With all the Cameos in the Book of Boba Fett, people are wondering who some of these characters are. Well, I’m a Star Wars nerd, and specifically a Star Wars animation nerd. There are two animated shows that the Star Wars live-action shows heavily build upon. Star Wars The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. This will be a list of the episodes in each show that build up to stories in the Mandalorian and the Book of Boba Fett. I also highlight a few stories that don’t directly feed into the live-action shows, but they add a lot of context to the stories that do, and frankly, they’re really good. I’m rating each episode out of 5 to help give you an idea of what you’re getting into with each episode. For the worse ones, I’ll highlight the major plot points so you don’t have to watch the episodes but you can be caught up for stories to come.
Star Wars The Clone Wars
The Clone Wars is one of the best-animated shows out there, sitting next to Avatar The Last Air Bender in my opinion. It started extremely rough, but there isn’t a bad episode in terms after season 3. I’m going to highlight the stories of Ahsoka, Rex and the Clones, Cad Bane, Mandalore, The Nightsisters, Boba Fett, and Maul. This will show you a majority of the amazing stories the show has to offer but there are some amazing episodes that don’t feature any of these characters/topics.
Clone Wars is an Anthology series. The shows consist of arcs that can span from 2 episodes long to as many as 5 episodes long. There are also standalone episodes but they become few and far between as the show progresses. The arcs are structured like movies which works amazing for this show especially in the later seasons. Things rarely feel rushed because of the format giving each story time to tell its full vision. I’m telling you, this show consists of some of the best Star Wars content ever put to screen.
Here’s the Google doc with the episodes. It’s a google doc so things can be color-coded. https://docs.google.com/document/d/19finxlkallMHBAfQB4mTFeZhkUZ0i_akmNGQr0zsbTY/edit?usp=sharing
Star Wars Rebels
I’m not a fan of Rebels. I think it’s worse than Clone Wars in almost every way. It’s a much different show than Clone Wars to be fair, but even with what the show tried to accomplish, I think it fails more often than not. While Clone Wars is an anthology show, Rebels is structured like a more traditional episodic TV show. This means if you really want to experience the show as the creators intended, don’t skip around. Again, I don’t personally like the show that much, but it does end some stories from the Clone Wars and continues the overarching stories of Ahsoka and Mandalore.
Rebels features a crew of characters that appear in nearly every episode of the show. Most episodes are standalone stories but there are a few 2 parters. The Crew consists of Ezra, a young boy strong with the force, Kanan, a Jedi Padawan that survived order 66, Hera, a Twilek pilot, Sabine, a Mandalorian with a messy past, Zeb, the tough guy (not much more to say about him tbh) and Chopper, the droid. The show focuses on them but as it progresses, their stories intersect with Ahsoka, Rex, and a few other Clones, Mandalore, and Maul. Those are the episodes I’ll highlight.

That’s it for those two shows. There are other shows like Resistance and Bad Batch, but they both haven’t directly tied into the live-action series much. I hope this proves useful as a guide and thanks for reading!
